The mission of Wellspring for the World is to provide safe drinking water for the people of the world.
The purpose...
of Wellspring for the World is to raise money to provide safe drinking water for the people of Mali, Ghana, and other areas of the world. Your tax deductible donation will ensure that communities throughout this region will have access to clean water which provides a foundation for good health and sanitation, food security and education. Wellspring is represented by a beautiful commissioned art piece done by local artists that is located in the downtown library in Fargo, ND.
Water is everywhere around us in the Red River Valley, often rising up to places it is not even wanted! We are so blessed to have all that we need; wouldn't it be an even bigger blessing to help those whose needs are so great?
12,000 children die every day...
throughout the world because they do not have safe water or basic sanitation. Children have no choice but to drink disease-infected water from surface lakes and ponds.
A visitor to Africa...
said, "I stood beside a muddy river watching a little boy fill a water jar with dark brown liquid. A few yards upstream, cattle waded in the river. The smell was sickening. I wondered what the child was taking home in his bucket. Cholera? Guinea worm? Yet the water was all his family had."
Guinea Worm...
is only one of the many water-related diseases that cause immense suffering and death. The Guinea Worm's nearly undetectable larve are ingested through the drinking water, and hatch in the intestines. Once a worm reaches its mature length of up to 36 inches, it bores its way out of its host's body - one painful fraction of an inch at a time - taking weeks to emerge.
When drilling teams strike water...
entire villages erupt in celebration because a clean water source cuts a community's child mortality rate in half. Dig a deep well and fit it with a hand pump, and we will be providing safe water for 300-400 people. The water is also used to irrigate crops and nourish cattle.
Every dollar raised...
will be tripled through matching grants provided by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and other donors through World Vision. Through these matching grants, wells will supply hundreds of people with a lifetime of fresh, pure, life-giving water!
Wellspring for the World is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All donations to Wellspring for the World are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
